Hi Natalie! Let’s start with your journey. What inspired you to start your spray tan business?

I started Coco Glow Airbrush to provide a healthier alternative to sun exposure, combining my skincare background and passion for artistry. What began in a walk-in closet has grown into a thriving studio, offering safe, customized tans that enhance natural beauty. Combining this with my passion for artistry and helping others feel their best, I saw an opportunity to create a space where people could achieve a flawless, natural-looking glow without compromising their health. My mission from day one is to help others feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. I am also excited to announce Coco Glow Airbrush is now offering a range of spa services to our clients!

Can you tell us more about what Coco Glow Airbrush offers and what makes it unique?

Coco Glow Airbrush specializes in custom spray tans tailored to each client’s unique skin tone, hair, and eye color for a truly natural glow. We take pride in reimagining spray tanning as body makeup, creating bespoke tans that enhance our clients’ beauty. Our tans are formulated with skin-nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid for a long-lasting, streak-free finish without the typical orange tint or unpleasant odor. Beyond tanning, we offer teeth whitening, hydra facials, brow lamination and shaping, lash tints and lifts, and even a unique body scrub massage to exfoliate and prep your skin before your tan.

What’s it like balancing the role of spray tan artist and business owner? How are you enjoying it?

Being both a spray tan artist and a business owner has been incredibly rewarding. I love the creative side of customizing tans for each client and the joy of seeing their confidence transform. As a business owner, building a supportive team and creating a welcoming environment for our clients has been just as fulfilling. Every day brings new opportunities to connect with people and make a positive impact, which keeps me passionate and inspired.

Every business has its challenges. What hurdles have you faced along the way, and how have you handled them?

Like any business, Coco Glow has faced challenges, especially in its early stages. From outgrowing our first location to navigating the logistics of scaling a business, each hurdle has been an opportunity to learn and grow. One of the biggest transitions was stepping away from physically spray tanning to focus on managing the business, which felt uncertain at first. However, by trusting my team and leaning into my strengths as a leader, I’ve been able to overcome those doubts and continue to expand our offerings and reach.

It sounds like you’ve had some major wins along the way. What are you most proud of so far?

Coco Glow has been consistently recognized as one of the top spray tanning studios in New Jersey, which is a testament to the dedication and talent of my team. Watching my vision grow from a small, single-space setup into a full-service studio with a loyal and diverse clientele has been one of the biggest wins. Additionally, expanding our services to include spa treatments and training a team of skilled contour artists have been major milestones that I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve never been more excited for the next chapter of Coco Glow—new services, new locations, and endless opportunities on the horizon!

Tell us about your experience working with Bronze Boss®. How did it help your business?

Expanding our spa services and training a team of skilled contour artists have been major milestones, and I’ve never been more excited for the next chapter of Coco Glow—new services, new locations, new partnerships, and endless opportunities on the horizon! I’m particularly thrilled to introduce more spa services, such as hydra facials and body scrub massages, which perfectly complement our spray tans, and so much more. We will also continue focusing on team training and enhancing the client experience to ensure Coco Glow remains a trusted name in beauty and wellness.

What advice would you give someone just starting out in their spray tan business?

Start small but dream big. Focus on providing exceptional service and building genuine relationships with your clients—they are the heart of your business. Invest in training, use high-quality products, and don’t be afraid to personalize your offerings to stand out in the market. Most importantly, stay adaptable and trust your unique talent as well as your gut feelings. Hard work will always beat talent in the end, and consistency is key. Never stop working on your craft. Art lessons, painting, drawing –I believe the biggest overlook classes for artist in our industry. Also view challenges as opportunity.
